“Is it Flamenco in the snow, or Pencak Silat, or Basque Boot? Perhaps it is all of them. Pencak Silat, like any successful living thing, adapts to its environment. It is possible to keep the core essence, the feeling, and the positive energy while evolving to tackle today’s challenges.” Richard Killick

Preserving Unique Martial Arts Traditions
I appreciate all the arts and flavours. Since 1986, I have taught and studied Savate with a Basque flavour. It is unique and beautiful. It is just one of the arts I try to preserve for future generations. I also seek to pass on our brand of the following arts, all taught as separate classesContinue reading “Preserving Unique Martial Arts Traditions”
13 January 2024 Class Reflections
This year, I am targeting our footwork for improvement and looking to improve that in each class.

KORA Group 2024 Objectives
After a productive research trip to Spain in late December 2023, I had the opportunity to reassess our group’s goals and evaluate the training modules for Sword, KORA, and Pencak Silat.
Reflecting on our experiences during the global pandemic, I recognize the vulnerability of our small research training group due to limited membership.
Therefore, I aim to disseminate our martial arts knowledge to ensure its preservation for future generations.

01 October 2023 Class Reflections
One crucial aspect of my role as a teacher is to ensure that my classes are enjoyable. Whether we are focusing on various martial arts like Sword and stick fighting, our unique hybrid of Savate and Muay Thai called Shootboxing, or separate classes in Pencak Silat, it is essential to infuse an element of funContinue reading “01 October 2023 Class Reflections”
